Feature writing.

Do look over AP feature style. Every quote should begin a new paragraph and paragraphs should be frequent and short. Do not change tense in your feature and write in third person when possible. Yearbook entries should be of features not theme copy as theme copy usually is not of the length to be a feature. Also, in future contests the feature length requirement will be just a guideline. Do not feel you need to shorten an already published feature just to enter this contest.

Photography.

Quality of work in this category truly was exceptional. Students are understanding and making great use of rule of thirds, foreground framing, etc. What often separated superior from excellent and honorable mention entries was facial expression. Make sure the photo tells a story and do not forget the caption requirement to help judges determine content of photo. For future contests there will be no size restrictions to photos.
